At least 18 individuals have gone missing from Merseyside, West Lancashire, and West Cheshire, according to the charity Missing People. This organization is dedicated to solving the mysteries of those who disappear without a trace and offers support to both the missing individuals and their families.
Founded in 1993 by Mary Asprey OBE and Janet Newman OBE, Missing People shares numerous missing person appeals from all over the UK, including nearly two dozen from the Merseyside, West Cheshire, and West Lancashire regions. Some of these cases are well-known, such as the disappearance of Mark Garvey, a teenager who went missing in 1987 after an argument with his girlfriend. Despite the passage of time, his family remains hopeful for his safe return.
In more recent times, the disappearance of Carol Mighall, a grandmother from Birkenhead, has puzzled both her family and the investigators working on her case. Her daughter described the situation as if her mother had been “zapped up by an alien.” There are also cases like that of Brian Hesketh, a Liverpool City Council engineer who vanished in 1994 after telling his colleagues he was taking an early lunch break. His family believes he is still alive, even a decade after his disappearance.
Some of these missing persons cases date back several decades, while others are more recent. Regardless of the time that has passed, Missing People sends a consistent message to all those affected: “We are here for you whenever you are ready; we can listen, talk you through what help you need, pass a message for you, and help you to be safe.”

Additionally, the ECHO regularly features missing person appeals on their website, providing a platform for these cases to reach a wider audience and potentially bring about new information or leads.
