A notorious thief in Warrington has managed to escape jail time yet again, despite having committed over 100 offences. Carl Cartwright, aged 49, appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of burglary with intent to steal. The court heard that these crimes took place in April and June of this year.
Cartwright’s first burglary occurred at a café on Long Lane, where he was caught by a witness wearing a red and white balaclava shining a torch inside the premises. He made off with a safe containing £1,000, as well as cash from the till, leaving the café in disarray. In addition to the suspended sentence, Cartwright was ordered to complete a six-month rehabilitation program and up to 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days. He was also instructed to pay £500 in compensation to the café, £150 to the vintage shop, and £75 to the salon.
