A young American bulldog in Warrington is on the path to recovery after being found abandoned with severe injuries, including electric cables tied around her neck and legs. The one-year-old dog, named Lola, was discovered at a disused garage in Oldham by a concerned member of the public. She was bleeding from her neck and front legs where the electric cable had deeply embedded into her skin, causing serious wounds.

Lola’s Road to Recovery

After being rushed to the nearest vet, it was discovered that Lola was microchipped, had recently turned one, and was in need of immediate medical attention. The pieces of cable were so thick that they had to be removed by the vet using bolt cutters. Despite the horrific injuries, Lola was described as friendly and lovely-natured by the vet. She was also very thirsty and malnourished, indicating that she had not received proper care for some time.

RSPCA Steps In

The RSPCA was contacted about Lola’s situation and took her into their care at the Warrington, Halton, and St Helens branch. The animal welfare charity is now actively investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage to trace what happened to Lola. RSPCA Inspector Deborah Beats, who is leading the investigation, expressed concern that Lola may have been deliberately tied up with the cable and then abandoned before managing to escape.

Community Support

The RSPCA is grateful to the kind individual who took Lola to the vet, ensuring she received the necessary help promptly. The veterinary team cared for Lola for six days before she was transferred to the RSPCA’s rehoming center in Warrington. Despite her ordeal, Lola, now renamed Ivy, is reportedly recovering well but understandably still nervous. The RSPCA continues to seek information about Lola’s previous owner and the circumstances surrounding her abandonment.

The man registered as Lola’s owner on the microchip claimed to have rehomed her to someone else in the local area about six weeks prior. However, he was unable to provide further details, other than the new owner being a man in his 30s. The RSPCA encourages anyone with information about Lola to come forward and assist with their investigation.
