An 82-year-old man in Warrington town center was the victim of a heartless theft by two thieves who stole his wallet containing £400 in cash. The thieves also used the man’s bank cards to withdraw an additional £1,000 from his account. Cheshire Police arrested three suspects in connection with the theft as part of Operation Escapade.
Following CCTV investigations, the police identified two suspects, Florin Moga, 33, from Coventry, and Iulian Vladu, 47, from Scunthorpe, who were charged with theft from a person and fraud by false representation. They appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to all charges. The court set a sentencing date for November, where they will be assisted by a Romanian interpreter.
In addition to the theft from the 82-year-old man, Vladu also faced a separate allegation of theft from another male victim in Warrington the previous year. Both defendants were granted conditional bail with an electronically monitored curfew.
Cheshire Police emphasized their commitment to delivering justice to criminals who target the town of Warrington. The police’s swift action in arresting the thieves demonstrates their dedication to protecting the community and holding offenders accountable for their actions. Residents can feel reassured that law enforcement is actively working to address and prevent crimes in the area.
