The Liverpool ECHO has recently joined a city-wide campaign to prevent the closure of Zoe’s Place, a beloved baby hospice in Liverpool. The hospice, located in Yew Tree Lane, West Derby, provides respite, palliative, and end-of-life care for babies and children up to the age of five. Unfortunately, staff and families were informed that the centre would close by the end of the year, leading to a 30-day countdown to raise £5 million to keep the charity operational.

In response to this urgent call for support, individuals and businesses across Liverpool and beyond have stepped up to organize fundraising events and donate generously. From comedy gigs to sponsored runs, the community has shown remarkable solidarity and determination to save Zoe’s Place. Notable figures such as Robbie Fowler, Paddy Pimblett, and Jamie Webster have also pledged their support to the cause.

One heartwarming gesture came from Zoomies Zone Liverpool, a dog park in Halewood, which pledged to donate all its income for a week to Zoe’s Place. Similarly, Derek’s Coffee & Sandwiches, owned by Ethan Woodroofe and Adam Taylor, launched a raffle offering a year’s supply of coffee and sandwiches to raise funds for the hospice. The outpouring of support from local businesses and individuals underscores the deep connection and compassion within the community.

As the campaign gains momentum, West Derby MP Ian Byrne has joined forces with the ECHO to mobilize further support and ensure the hospice’s survival. With the current lease on the site ending next year, Zoe’s Place urgently needs to secure £5 million to build a new facility and continue its vital services in the city. The ECHO will be providing live updates on fundraising efforts and ways for individuals to contribute to the cause.

The 30-day countdown to save Zoe’s Place represents a critical moment for the hospice and the families it serves. The unwavering dedication and generosity displayed by the community reflect the spirit of unity and compassion that defines Liverpool. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that Zoe’s Place remains a beacon of hope and support for those in need.
