Four-year-old Ozzy is on a mission to give back to the hospital that saved his life. His mother, Sophie Lee, found out about Ozzy’s condition, gastroschisis, during her pregnancy. This rare condition meant that Ozzy’s organs could be born outside his abdomen. Despite the challenges, Ozzy was born in November 2020 and received lifesaving surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Since then, Ozzy has faced ongoing health issues, including several admissions due to intestinal obstructions. Through it all, the staff at Alder Hey have been a source of support and comfort for Sophie and her family. They have praised the hospital for its exceptional care and dedication to their son’s well-being.
Now, Ozzy is determined to give back to the hospital that has done so much for him. He is taking on the challenge of walking 31 miles in 31 days to raise money for Alder Hey. Despite the distance being a lot for his little legs, Ozzy has already walked more than a mile each day. His original fundraising target was £150, but he has already surpassed that, raising over £460.
Sophie and her family are incredibly proud of Ozzy’s efforts and hope to reach a fundraising goal of £500 by the end of October. They are touched by the support they have received from the community and are grateful for the opportunity to give back to Alder Hey.
