A new initiative has been introduced in Warrington to provide support and therapy for new moms who have undergone C-sections. Claire Gregory and Robyn Ablott from Baby Bump Fitness CIC are leading this project, aiming to assist moms during the first 1,000 days after childbirth.

As the rates of C-section deliveries continue to increase, with almost 30 percent of births in the north west being delivered through caesarean, this project funded by the Cheshire Community Foundation will focus on post-surgery scar care for mothers. Claire and Robyn have created a free downloadable resource to help women with C-section scar therapy at home.

Additionally, they will be organizing regular workshops across Warrington where women can receive hands-on training on identifying their scar type, performing scar therapy, and receiving other helpful advice. Claire, along with Robyn, who are both advanced scar therapists, emphasized the importance of proper scar management, including techniques such as scar massage, to improve mobility, reduce discomfort, and minimize scar tightness and overhang.

During these workshops, attendees will be provided with free scar therapy accessories to continue their therapy at home. The project is not limited to women who have recently undergone C-sections, but also welcomes those who had the procedure years ago, as it is never too late for scar therapy.

The C-Section Scar Support Project is a collaborative effort, with the support of partners such as Sigma Woman, The Active Pregnancy Foundation, and Scarban. This initiative not only aims to provide physical support and therapy for new moms but also offers a sense of community and solidarity among women who have gone through similar experiences.

It is vital for new moms to have access to resources and support systems that can aid in their postpartum recovery and overall well-being. The C-Section Scar Support Project in Warrington is a step in the right direction towards ensuring that mothers receive the care and attention they need during the crucial period after childbirth.
