A teenager, Ryan French, was sentenced to jail for sexually assaulting a young girl in Warrington during a game of truth or dare. The 18-year-old admitted to four counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The disturbing incident took place on July 24, where French dared the 13-year-old victim to remove her clothing and then proceeded to sexually assault her, including digital penetration.
The victim bravely spoke up about the assault to her mother, despite French’s warning not to tell anyone. French himself admitted to being “f*cked in the head” when confronted about the incident. He was arrested in August and confessed to playing truth or dare with the victim. In court, the victim shared that she felt scared and confused during the assault.
French, who had no prior convictions, was described as having significant mental health issues and a difficult childhood. His defense attorney acknowledged that there were no excuses for his actions. Despite this, French was sentenced to 30 months in detention, along with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and restraining order to protect the victim. He will also be on the sex offenders register for life.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of speaking up against sexual assault and seeking justice for victims. It also highlights the need for support and intervention for individuals with mental health issues and difficult backgrounds to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
