Christmas has arrived on Church Street in a spectacular display of lights and decorations. The city’s grand tree was lit up by Lord Mayor Richard Kemp on Thursday, November 21 at 4:45pm. A crowd of onlookers gathered to witness the magical moment, cheering and clapping as the tree’s 14,000 LED lights illuminated the area.

The Rector of Liverpool, Crispin Pailing, also played a part in the festivities by blessing the nativity scene at the base of the tree. This 50ft tree is just one of the many festive decorations that can be found in Liverpool city centre. Among them is a giant bauble archway on Paradise Street, a towering 25-metre Christmas tree, children’s rides, and the popular Bar Hütte in Chavasse Park.
