I enjoy using the sugar-free syrups from The Skinny Food Co. to add extra flavor to my coffee and porridge. The caramel and vanilla flavors are great for coffee, while more adventurous flavors like toasted marshmallow and cookie dough are perfect for porridge. I go through a lot of porridge each week, so these syrups have earned a spot in my kitchen cupboard. I love experimenting with different flavors, especially seasonal ones like pumpkin spice and peppermint candy cane. While I stick to the classic vanilla flavor most of the time, there are other brands like Jordan’s Skinny Syrups and Matteos that offer a variety of flavors as well. The syrups are shelf-stable and last a long time, making it hard to resist trying out new flavors whenever they come out. I have yet to try the electric blue “mermaid” flavor or the lavender “unicorn” flavor, but I’m always open to new taste experiences. The process of finding the right balance of grains to liquid and cooking to the perfect consistency is deeply satisfying, and adding syrup to the final product enhances the overall taste. Investing in a few different flavors of syrups has definitely added some excitement to my daily meals, and I look forward to trying out more flavors in the future.
