A couple from Warrington, Stephanie McGuire and Michael Abbey, have been sentenced to over six years in prison for their involvement in running a class A drug line. They were found guilty of two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine.
The investigation into the couple began in January when officers discovered the ‘Manc J’ county line operating in Warrington. This line was known for selling heroin and crack cocaine through daily flare messages. Through telecoms enquiries, Abbey and McGuire were identified as the controllers of the line.
During a raid on their home in Latchford on March 21, officers found four mobile phones and a diary with incriminating contact details. Messages on the devices confirmed their drug dealing activities.
At the sentencing at Chester Crown Court, McGuire received a 40-month prison term, while Abbey was sentenced to 33 months. DI Rob Balfour of Cheshire Police expressed satisfaction with the sentences, emphasizing the destructive impact of illegal drugs on individuals and communities.
He stressed the importance of community involvement in reporting drug activities to the police. Anyone with information on drug dealing in their area is encouraged to contact Cheshire Police at 101 or online at cheshire.police.uk/to/report. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
Drug-related crimes like those committed by McGuire and Abbey have serious consequences for society. The availability of drugs like heroin and cocaine can lead to addiction, health problems, and increased criminal activity. By cracking down on drug dealers, law enforcement agencies work to create safer communities for everyone.
It is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities to the authorities. Through collective efforts, we can combat the scourge of illegal drugs and protect our neighborhoods from the harm they bring.
