United Utilities, an award-winning company, is on the lookout for 56 new graduates to join their scheme in 2025. The company, based in Great Sankey, is offering positions in various areas like technology, project controls, and reservoir engineering. The deadline for applications is on October 13, except for economist positions, which have until October 27 to apply.

The graduate scheme still has vacancies for roles such as future leaders (operational), technical graduate water resources, graduate geotechnical engineer, graduate hydraulic engineer, graduate reservoir engineer, graduate wastewater network modeller, and junior project manager. Successful candidates will embark on a three-year journey that includes career development, support, and a deep dive into their chosen business area.

Upon joining, graduates will receive a starting salary of £30,000 and a welcome bonus of £2,000. They will also have the opportunity to achieve accreditation, qualifications, or chartership in their respective disciplines. Katrina Cullen, a former graduate catchment planner, shared her experience, highlighting the valuable skills and knowledge she gained through the scheme, leading her to a new role as a place-based planning manager.

Syed Ramis Ali, the first international graduate to join United Utilities, expressed his satisfaction with the scheme, emphasizing the growth and achievements he experienced. Similarly, Chinwe Ekennia, a second-year network modeller, praised the supportive environment and the learning opportunities provided by the company.

CEO project manager Elspeth Fury emphasized the positive impact of the scheme on her confidence and career path, encouraging others to consider this opportunity for personal and professional growth. Jacqui Kawczak, senior education lead at United Utilities, highlighted the success of past graduates who have seamlessly transitioned into management roles, contributing to the company’s progress and diversity initiatives.

Currently, there are 105 graduates enrolled in the scheme, with the latest cohort showing promising diversity with 35% female representation and 52% from ethnic minority backgrounds.
