It was a rainy and windy day on the Liverpool waterfront as the area prepares for some winter weather. The Met Office has issued a warning for snow and ice in Merseyside starting from 7pm on Monday to 10am on Tuesday. They mentioned that there is a possibility of disruption due to snow during this time. There might also be power cuts and issues with services like mobile phone coverage.

Today, Liverpool saw cold temperatures and rain. People were seen struggling with umbrellas at the Pier Head as the wind and rain swept in from the River Mersey.

Tomorrow’s warning covers most of Merseyside, excluding coastal areas like Hoylake, Formby, and Southport. Chief Meteorologist Andy Page stated, “We have issued yellow warnings for snow and ice as cold weather moves in from the north. This will bring snow showers and icy conditions to parts of Scotland on Sunday night, with the potential for snow to cause disruptions to transportation routes across the central UK on Tuesday morning.”

There is also a possibility of gusty winds in the east, posing a hazard. Updates on the wintry weather warnings are expected, so it is crucial to keep track of the latest forecast.

ECHO photographer Colin Lane ventured out to the Pier Head today to capture some pictures of the weather conditions. The photos show the bleak and stormy atmosphere that has taken over the city. The images give a glimpse of how Liverpool is being battered by the elements, with people braving the weather with their umbrellas. Stay safe and prepared for the upcoming winter weather in the region.
