Police in Newton-Le-Willows are asking for the public’s help in finding a dog that bit a man on the chin. The incident occurred on Monday, October 7, around 6pm, when a man in his 50s was walking his dog near St Mary’s RC Junior School.

According to the man, a large black dog approached them and bit him on the chin as he tried to pick up his own dog. The bite was severe, resulting in a deep laceration that required hospital treatment and plastic surgery.

The dog, described as a large black dog with long hair and a white chest, was not wearing a collar and ran away after the attack. Police have been searching the area to locate the dog and its owner, but so far, they have been unsuccessful.

Detective Sergeant Dave Glover emphasized the importance of finding the dog to prevent any further harm. He urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the dog to come forward.
