So, the Winter Gardens Blackpool had a bit of a situation on their hands during the first night of the ‘Only Fools and Horses’ musical. Apparently, someone in the audience got really sick during the break, and things got serious enough for the paramedics and police to step in. The whole venue had to be cleared out, and the show had to be postponed. Not exactly how anyone imagined the night going, I’m sure.
The North West Ambulance Service was called in to check on the person who fell ill, but we don’t really know much about what happened to them. The police were also there to lend a hand, but they’re keeping quiet about the details. The show, starring Paul Whitehouse as Grandad, was supposed to run until May 3, but now it’s up in the air.
If you had tickets for that night and got caught up in the chaos, don’t worry. The venue will be reaching out to you via email to let you know how to swap your tickets for another show later in the week or get a refund if you can’t make it. Seems like they’re trying to make things right for the fans who missed out on the fun.
A spokesperson for the Winter Gardens Blackpool shared, “So, last night’s performance of Only Fools and Horses The Musical hit a bit of a snag when a member of the audience needed help during the interval. Had to clear out the whole theatre, you know, just to be safe. If you were there and got caught up in the mess, keep an eye on your inbox for details on what to do next. Hopefully, we’ll get back on track soon.”
Over on Facebook, people were quick to show their support for the venue and the staff who handled the situation like pros. Jai Halcyons mentioned their own experience working in a theatre and how tough it can be to get everyone out in a hurry. Olly Higson praised the team for their quick response and wished the best for the person who fell ill. And Diane Williams, well, she just hoped everything turned out okay in the end.
Looking ahead, the Only Fools and Horses Musical is gearing up for a run at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre starting on June 9. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly this time around!
So, there you have it. A night at the theatre took a unexpected turn, but everyone came together to handle it as best they could. Let’s hope for a smoother ride for the rest of the show’s run.
