remembering-a-mother-who-brightened-every-room-a-heartfelt-tribute

Lois Thompson, a beloved mother, and postwoman who had a knack for brightening any room with her infectious presence, is being fondly remembered by her family and friends. Described as a “bundle of fun” and someone who left an indelible mark on everyone she met, Lois tragically passed away on February 26, 2021, at the age of 52 after battling mental health issues for an extended period.

In the midst of Covid restrictions, only a limited number of 16 individuals were able to attend Lois’ funeral, with the absence of a traditional wake. Despite these challenges, a touching farewell was arranged to honor her memory in a unique way.

The funeral procession commenced at The Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion, where Lois held membership, before proceeding to Milner Street where her fellow posties lined the street to pay their respects. As the procession made its way to Walton Crematorium, it traversed through Stockton Heath, Lois’ postal route, prompting residents to emerge from their homes and applaud in a moving tribute.

In an effort to commemorate Lois and support individuals grappling with mental health issues, a special event and fundraiser are being organized by her fiancé Ian and friends. All proceeds from the event will be directed towards the mental health charity Mind, aligning with Lois’ compassionate spirit and desire to help others.

The event is scheduled to take place at The Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion on Saturday, March 1, starting at 6 pm. Attendees can look forward to live music, delectable food, refreshing drinks, enticing raffle prizes, a lively DJ, an engaging auction, and more. The organizers are hopeful that the 200-capacity room will be filled with individuals eager to honor Lois’ memory and contribute to a meaningful cause.

Reflecting on Lois’ legacy, her loved ones expressed, “Lois never wanted to leave us, she just didn’t know how to stay. She is missed so much by so many, and we are committed to keeping her memory alive while assisting others in need.” Emphasizing Lois’ love for celebrations, they encouraged everyone to attend the event and celebrate her life with the same zest and enthusiasm she would have brought to the occasion.

Tickets for the event are priced at £10 and can be purchased from The Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion. Additional information can be found on the event’s official fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/ian-cornwall-1734008801206.

As the community rallies together to honor Lois’ memory and support mental health initiatives, the event stands as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact she had on those around her and the legacy of kindness and generosity she left behind.
