A Liverpool couple has taken on the ambitious task of transforming an “iconic” bank building in the city into a sleek and contemporary-style salon. The former TSB Bank building on Speke Road, which has been a landmark in the area for decades, has now been revamped thanks to the vision and hard work of husband-and-wife duo, Laina and Michael Foott.
The site originally opened its doors back in September 1939 as the Liverpool Savings Bank, eventually transitioning into a TSB Bank until June 2022. Over the years, it has served as a hub for the community, welcoming people from Garston and beyond. However, with changing times and the evolution of the area, the building was in need of a new purpose.
For the past seven years, Laina and Michael have been running Anya Hairdressing & Beauty in a building adjacent to the old bank.
