Today is National Grandparents’ Day 2024, a special day to honor all the grannies, grandads, nannas, and grandpas in Warrington. This day, founded by Age Concern UK, has been celebrated on the first Sunday of October since 2008, giving families the opportunity to express their gratitude to their grandparents.

We reached out to the community to share what makes their grandparents so special. The responses we received were heartwarming and filled with love. From sharing cherished memories to highlighting the unwavering support and care provided by grandparents, each message was a testament to the special bond between grandparents and their grandchildren.

You can still send us your messages and family photos to be featured in our special online gallery and in the upcoming Warrington Guardian. Don’t forget to include a clear photograph, their full names, where they are from in Warrington, and why you believe they are the best grandparents.

Let’s take a look at some of the touching messages we received:

Louise shared about her grandparents, Faith and Sharon from Orford, who are always there for her, Tommy Burns expressed his gratitude towards Jackie and Allan Carr from Woolston for their unwavering support through his health challenges, and Grace Mellor praised her Gma Margaret Pidgeon from Orford for her kindness and wisdom.

Sarah Cameron shared about her grandparents Val and Adge Wilson from Great Sankey, who have been pillars of support for their entire family, while Elizabeth Lilford highlighted the love and adoration Lynne and Stephen from Latchford have for their granddaughter Imogen.

The stories go on to showcase the selflessness, love, and joy that grandparents bring into their grandchildren’s lives. From sweet treats to life lessons, grandparents play an invaluable role in shaping their grandchildren’s lives and creating lasting memories.

As we celebrate National Grandparents’ Day, let us take a moment to appreciate and cherish the special bond we share with our grandparents. Their love, wisdom, and presence enrich our lives in ways that words cannot fully capture. So, to all the grandparents in Warrington and beyond, thank you for being the wonderful, loving, and extraordinary individuals that you are.

Keep sharing your special messages and photos to continue honoring and celebrating the grandparents who hold a special place in our hearts. Happy National Grandparents’ Day!
