During a recent visit to Warrington Market, we stumbled upon a hidden gem that we had somehow overlooked before – La Cuccina. This family-run restaurant located in The Cookhouse section of the market promises to bring a taste of Italy to its customers, and it certainly delivers on that promise.
Upon entering the cozy market hall, we were greeted by the inviting aromas of authentic Italian cuisine. We decided to try the Pasta Milano, a dish consisting of fusilli pasta, spicy n’duja sausage, fresh tomatoes, garlic, chillies, and a generous topping of mozzarella cheese. The flavors were bold and delicious, reminiscent of a meal enjoyed in Italy itself. The heat from the chillies and n’duja was perfectly balanced by the cool, melty mozzarella, creating a harmonious blend of flavors.
In addition to the pasta, we also sampled the nine-inch Italian ‘flamin’ sub’, made with spicy chicken strips, salad, spicy chilli sauce, and cheddar cheese, all sandwiched between authentic Italian focaccia bread. The bread was crispy and flavorful, providing the perfect base for the spicy chicken and tangy sauce. The portion size was generous, with fries included to round out the meal.
La Cuccina is the brainchild of Cy Beautier, a passionate chef from Paris with a unique French-Italian culinary background. Celebrating its one-year anniversary at the market, La Cuccina has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Cy’s dedication to quality and authenticity shines through in every dish served at the restaurant.
Overall, our experience at La Cuccina was a delightful surprise. The combination of fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and warm hospitality made for a memorable dining experience. Whether you’re a fan of Italian cuisine or simply looking to try something new, La Cuccina is definitely worth a visit. We can’t wait to return and sample more of their delicious offerings.
