I have a love-hate relationship with breakfast. I enjoy taking my time to fully wake up and savor a meal, but on busy workdays, I often settle for a quick banana. However, on weekends, I look forward to indulging in scrambled eggs on toast. Yet, going out for breakfast can be a challenge with long wait times at popular spots.
Recently, I had a rare Tuesday off and decided to treat myself to brunch at Space, a bar and restaurant I hadn’t visited in a while. I was relieved to find a few available tables when I arrived, despite the lively atmosphere with families and friends enjoying their meals. I opted for their Full Monroe breakfast, which included eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, toast, hash brown, black pudding, and tomato.
The food arrived promptly, and I was impressed by the presentation. The beans were served separately in a pot, preventing any spills on the rest of the plate. The eggs were cooked to perfection, and the bacon was deliciously tender. However, I overestimated my appetite and couldn’t finish the black pudding or tomato. The total cost of the meal, including juice, was £15.35, which I found reasonable for the generous portions.
While Space may not be as well-known as other breakfast spots in the area, I believe it is worth a visit. In addition to the Full Monroe breakfast, they offer a variety of options such as toasties and scrambled eggs. The venue also serves a full evening menu and has a bar open until 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. On top of that, there is an outdoor courtyard for enjoying meals in good weather.
Despite the competition from nearby Lark Lane, Space stands out for its quality food, stylish ambiance, and range of offerings. If you’re in the area and craving a satisfying breakfast or brunch experience, Space is definitely worth a try. Whether you’re a fan of traditional English breakfast or prefer something lighter, Space has something for everyone. So, next time you’re looking for a breakfast spot with a twist, consider giving Space a visit.
