A father and son from Penketh, known for their love of all things Wire, have captured the hearts of many online with their incredible model of Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.
After Phil Delamere’s father, Des, passed away in 2020, he wanted to keep his father’s passion for model railways alive. With the help of his 10-year-old son, Alfie, they decided to create a special model railway set in honor of Des, featuring a detailed replica of the Halliwell Jones Stadium’s north stand and even a miniature Costa Coffee in the garage.
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, as Wire star and England International winger Matty Ashton has commended their work. Phil and Alfie’s dedication to the project reflects the commitment and passion they have for the sport and the team they love.
For Phil, this project is more than just a hobby; it’s a way to bond with his son and pass on valuable skills and memories. Their shared love for the Wire has brought them closer together and created lasting memories that they will cherish.
The admiration for Matty Ashton in their household is evident, with both Phil and Alfie expressing their admiration for the winger’s performances on the field. Ashton, in return, has praised the father-and-son duo for their attention to detail and hard work in creating the model of the stadium.
Their dedication to the project caught the attention of the Warrington Wolves Foundation, who invited them to the real Halliwell Jones Stadium for a special event. This recognition serves as a reminder that hard work and dedication can lead to meaningful experiences and opportunities.
Through their passion for model railways and their love for the Wire, Phil and Alfie have not only created a stunning replica of the stadium but have also inspired others to pursue their interests and dreams. Their story is a testament to the power of sports and community in bringing people together and making a difference in people’s lives.
