On Sunday, November 10, Warrington will once again come together to honor Remembrance Day. The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Wendy Johnson, along with war veterans, religious leaders, and members of the armed forces, will participate in the event. The event will kick off at 9.45am outside Warrington Town Hall.

The parade will then proceed to the cenotaph via Spring Street, Palmyra Square South, Suez Street, Ryland Street, and Bridge Street around 10.20am. The service at the war memorial will begin at 10.59am with the playing of the ‘Last Post’. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11am, followed by the cenotaph service and wreath laying.

The parade will then reform around 11.25am and head back to the Town Hall. It’s important to note that there will be traffic restrictions in place on the day, leading to expected delays around the Bridge Foot area.

Road closures will be enforced between 8am to midday, including the entire Bridge Foot area. This means there will be no access to Riverside Retail Park, Wharf Industrial Estate, or Tanning Court Industrial Estate during this time. Additionally, from 9am to noon, roads around Queen’s Gardens will be closed. This includes Sankey Street, Legh Street, Springfield Street, Palmyra Square South, Palmyra Square North, Bold Street, Suez Street, Rylands Street, and Barbauld Street.

For those attending the event, the Time Square multi-storey car park will be open all day with free parking available. This will hopefully make it easier for attendees to find parking amidst the road closures and restrictions in place.

So, if you plan on attending the Remembrance Day parade in Warrington this weekend, be sure to take note of these essential road closure details to avoid any inconvenience on the day. Let’s come together as a community to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
