Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols recently paid a visit to 10:10 Games, a video game company located in the town center at Centre Park. During her visit, she met with Arthur Parsons, the head of publishing and co-founder of the company. This visit was part of her role as the new chair of the Video Games and Esports All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).

10:10 Games, founded in 2021, has been making waves in the industry with the recent release of their new game, Funko Fusion. Ms. Nichols expressed her excitement about the projects in the pipeline and commended the company for leading the way in creating job and apprenticeship opportunities locally. She highlighted the importance of skills in gaming, investment, policy framework, and workplace culture in the industry.

One of the impressive aspects of 10:10 Games is their commitment to hiring new talent. Over half of their team members were recruited fresh out of university, while others came through the apprenticeship route. Ms. Nichols emphasized the need for more companies in the industry to follow this example and provide opportunities for new starters.

As the new chair of the Video Games and Esports APPG, Ms. Nichols is determined to promote good practices like those at 10:10 Games across the industry. She aims to work closely with trade body UKIE to ensure that the industry is on a sustainable path. The success of the video game sector not only benefits gamers but also contributes significantly to the UK economy, with a larger GVA than the music and film industries combined.

In her role, Ms. Nichols plans to raise awareness in Parliament about key areas such as the growing importance of Esports, the potential of artificial intelligence in games, and the sector’s economic contributions. By amplifying the sector’s impact, she hopes to pave the way for a bright future for the video game industry in the UK. Through collaboration with industry stakeholders and educational institutions like Warrington & Vale Royal College, she aims to ensure that students are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in the gaming industry.
