The University of Chester recently received a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted for its higher and degree apprenticeship programs, including those offered at its Warrington center. The inspection covered various key areas, all of which received positive ratings. Of particular note was the university’s use of technology in teaching and the feedback provided to learners.

Specific programs assessed included Chartered Manager, Social Work, Student Nursing Associate, Pre-Registered Nurse, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, and Police Constable. The findings showed that learners in these programs are performing well, with one-third of them achieving the highest classification for their qualifications and assessments.

Ofsted also praised the university for its support for learners, especially those with special educational needs and/or difficulties. The apprenticeship curricula were found to be well-planned to support learners’ overall development and citizenship. Additionally, the university’s commitment to providing career advice and guidance for apprentices was recognized.

Professor Eunice Simmons, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chester, expressed her delight with the outcome and thanked employers and learners for their support. She highlighted the hard work of university colleagues in supporting apprentices, leading to improved achievement rates.

The university’s focus on delivering programs in partnership with the public sector was emphasized, with a sense of pride in developing future nurses, social workers, and police officers for the North-West region. The partnerships with employers were commended for ensuring that all learners receive a comprehensive curriculum.
