Tom Grundy, a former professional rugby league player, has transitioned from the field to the world of real estate as the managing director of Anwyl’s Cheshire and North Wales division. With a background playing for Warrington, Leigh Leopards, and Swinton Lions, Grundy is now focused on leading the homebuilder’s operations and strategies in the region.

Grundy’s journey into the construction industry began in 2008 when he started as a trainee quantity surveyor at Barratt Homes. He dedicated himself to his career, attending Bolton University one day a week to earn a degree in quantity surveying. After gaining experience at Redrow as a senior quantity surveyor and chief QS, Grundy made the decision to join Anwyl Homes when the company formed its Lancashire division seven years ago.

Despite briefly leaving Anwyl to work with Eurogold, Grundy has returned to the company as managing director. He expressed his excitement for the opportunity to continue his journey with Anwyl and further develop relationships to support the team’s growth in Cheshire and North Wales.

Reflecting on his career transition from rugby to real estate, Grundy shared that his exposure to the construction industry through his father’s small building company made it a natural choice for him. He enjoys working collaboratively with a diverse team to achieve common goals, a sentiment that has been a driving force in his career.

As managing director, Grundy will face challenges within the industry, such as navigating the planning system, managing build costs, and ensuring material availability. Despite these obstacles, he remains optimistic about the future, citing improving market conditions, lower mortgage rates, and a positive economic outlook as factors that will support sales volumes and steady house price growth.

Anwyl’s Cheshire and North Wales division currently has 11 live developments in various locations, including Cheshire, Shropshire, Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire, and Conwy, where homes are available for sale. Construction has recently commenced at two new developments in Dalton Fields, Chorlton, Greater Manchester, and Lottie Gardens on the Wirral.

Grundy emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality homes and maintaining a strong team culture. He believes that Anwyl’s product and construction quality set them apart in the industry, making them a leader in the market.
