Spooky Skeleton Trail and Pumpkin Picking Fun at Tatton Park This October

October half-term at Tatton Park is set to be a thrilling experience for families with the launch of a new spine-tingling skellies and wellies trail. Children are invited to explore the Halloween bony brigade, donning their best fancy dress and boots for a fun-filled adventure.

As visitors traverse the spooky gardens with a free trail sheet in hand, they will come across bone-chilling skeleton displays along the way, each complete with a rib-tickling joke to keep the atmosphere light-hearted. The trail will run from October 26 to November 3, excluding Mondays.

Pumpkin Patch and Autumn Artisan Gift Fair

For those looking to add a festive touch to their Halloween celebrations, the Pumpkin Patch at the Farm will be open on selected dates from October 19 to 31. Families can enjoy visiting rare breed animals, such as the Royal Golden Guernsey goats, before heading out to pick their perfect pumpkin from the field.

Farm manager Jayne Chapman expressed excitement about this year’s pumpkin varieties, including the lumpy Goosebumps and blue Crown Prince. However, the traditional orange Jack O Lantern remains a favorite for carving, with plenty available for families to choose from. The bumper crop is a result of the plants thriving in the rainy weather.

In addition to the pumpkin patch, visitors can browse the Autumn Artisan Gift Fair in the Mansion’s Tenants’ Hall on October 26 and 27. Local suppliers will be offering handcrafted items, artisan food and drink, jewelry, candles, artwork, and even Tatton Park gin made with botanicals from the gardens.

Family-Friendly Trails and Nature Exploration

In addition to the Halloween festivities, families can enjoy new trails and nature exploration activities at Tatton Park this October half-term. The Billie the Beetle Trail in Dairy Wood Way offers a short woodland walk perfect for mini explorers to learn about Billie, her woodland friends, and their habitat.

Visitors can also grab an autumn forager trail from the Welcome Building and explore the parkland while witnessing wildlife and the changing colors of the season. Lucky observers may spot a hobby bird of prey from the Allen bird hide or witness the deer rut, a highlight of autumn when stags compete for mates.

As a reminder, it is important to exercise caution around the deer, as they are wild animals and can behave unpredictably, especially during the rutting season. Visitors are advised to maintain a safe distance, watch through binoculars, and keep dogs under close control.
