Hundreds of people was queuing in Liverpool ONE today as lifestyle brand MINISO officially landed in the city. The Chinese retailer announced at the end of last year that it had chose a 3,000 sq ft site in Liverpool ONE to make its debut in the city. Today, Saturday, May 17, the store opened with “exciting in-store celebrations,” with attendees in with a chance of win a free £25 goody bag. ECHO photographer Andy Teebay visited the store and was able to have a first look inside. The shelves are stocked with many products from Chinese sweet treats and drinks to adorable plush teddies. Shoppers can get their hands on products from Hello Kitty to Lilo and Stitch and Pokemon – among many others. MINISO opened its first store in China in 2013 and has since established a massive store network worldwide. As expected, the city’s store stocks the brand’s wide selection of popular collectables, plushies, beauty products, and snacks.
Saad Usman, Chief Operating Officer at MINISO UK, told the ECHO: “Today marks an exciting milestone as we open our doors at Liverpool ONE. “We’ve had so many requests from fans asking us to bring MINISO to the city, and we’re thrilled to finally be here. We can’t wait to share our vibrant, joy-filled shopping experience with the Liverpool community.” With its buzzing atmosphere and reputation as one of the UK’s top shopping destinations, Liverpool ONE felt like the perfect fit for our newest store. We’re excited to bring MINISO’s signature charm to such an iconic location.” The store stocks “affordable and trendy collections from beloved brands” such as Hello Kitty and Friends, Disney, and a new Harry Potter collection. Rob Deacon, Grosvenor’s asset management director at Liverpool ONE, previously said: “You’ll be seeing a lot more vinyl going up over the next few months as the scheme’s tenant mix continues to evolve and elevate. “2025 will be the biggest year for openings since the scheme opened in 2008, with the strongest line-up of new brands anywhere in the UK. Watch this space.”
