warrington-family-business-expansion-approved-for-ncreased-demand

A well-known family-run Warrington business have been given the thumbs up to grow and meet the increasing demand, which is pretty exciting stuff. Last year in April, Lymm Truckwash, located at Poplar Park in Lymm service station, shared their big plans for expansion. They are already the biggest truck washing spot in Europe, and now the Warrington Borough Council’s planning department have given them the green light.

The approval is for an extension of the current truck wash facility to add two more wash bays, staff parking, and a plant room. They also want to include an extra queuing area and a turning circle for HGVs at the site entrance on Cliff Lane. So yeah, they’re really stepping up their game here.

This business was first started by John and Anne Cardwell back in 1967, but their daughter Laura has really taken it to the next level. Laura mentioned, “We washed around 60,400 trucks last year, and now we’re heading into 2024 busier than ever.” That’s a lot of trucks, if you ask me.

Their customers range from solo owner-drivers to big fleet operators like DHL. After another successful year, the company decided it was time to expand due to the high demand. Laura added, “We heard the feedback and noticed some issues with availability during peak times, so it just made sense to add three more wash bays to our service.” It’s all about listening to your customers, right?

The council gave the go-ahead, stating, “The evidence provided shows that the benefits clearly outweigh any potential harm. The expansion will help manage the impacts and reduce the chance of HGVs lining up on the local roads. The design and layout are mostly based on the business operations, but they’re also planning a nice landscape scheme to enhance biodiversity and screen the site from the outside. The impact on neighbors should be about the same as it is now.”

So, it looks like Lymm Truckwash is all set for a major upgrade, and it’s going to be interesting to see how it all pans out. Who knew washing trucks could be such a big deal, right?
