A dangerous rapist named Anthony Pilling from Warrington has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison for committing sex offences against multiple women. He admitted to preying on women in the west Yorkshire area, leading to his sentencing at Leeds Crown Court. Pilling pleaded guilty to four charges of rape, three of which occurred within a 24-hour period this year, while another took place in 2021. The court heard that he attacked the women in their own homes in Halifax and Huddersfield after meeting them on dating apps without their consent.
The victims provided impact statements detailing the psychological trauma they experienced as a result of Pilling’s actions. Judge Tahir Khan sentenced him to 24 years in jail, along with a requirement to sign the sex offender register for life and adhere to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. PC Alexandra Oldham from West Yorkshire Police’s Kirklees District Adult Safeguarding Unit welcomed the sentence, stating that it reflects the seriousness of Pilling’s offences and the lasting impact on his victims. She hopes that the victims can find some comfort in knowing that Pilling will be off the streets for many years to come.
