CCTV footage captured at a hotel in New Jersey reveals the moment a man was seen pushing a trolley loaded with drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, destined for Liverpool. However, the plan was foiled when United States Customs and Border Protection agents, along with the FBI, raided the private jet before it could take off. American nationals Leonardo Petrosillo and Edwin Spears, also known as “Money”, were arrested along with two other individuals on the plane.

The drug haul consisted of 12.6kg of cocaine, over 230kg of cannabis, and around 1,000 cartridges of THC. It was intended to be smuggled from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey to Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Investigations revealed that one of the passengers on the plane was an adult exotic dancer from Maryland, who was allegedly paid to take an Uber to the airport and claim some of the baggage containing drugs as her own. Another individual accompanied her on the trip, while Spears’ girlfriend was also onboard.

Although Spears claimed ownership of the drugs, evidence suggested that both men were involved in the conspiracy. CCTV footage obtained by law enforcement agencies showed the two men moving luggage carts between the hotel and vehicles in the early hours of the day of their arrests. The suitcases found on the private plane matched those seen in the CCTV footage.

Phone records and previous indictments indicated that Spears has ties to gangs associated with the Bloods and New York Mafia families. Both men were subsequently arrested and jailed after appearing in court.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the lengths to which criminals will go to smuggle illegal substances across borders. It also highlights the crucial role played by law enforcement agencies in intercepting such illicit activities and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The case underscores the importance of surveillance technology, such as CCTV cameras, in helping authorities gather evidence and build a strong case against drug traffickers. The cooperation between different agencies, such as the FBI and Customs and Border Protection, was instrumental in thwarting the drug smuggling operation and apprehending the individuals involved.

As the investigation continues, more details may emerge about the extent of the drug trafficking network and the individuals involved. This serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies to combat this illicit trade.
