Construction is about to begin on a new housing development project in Warrington. Home developers Bellway have secured a deal to build 153 family homes on Golborne Road in Winwick. The 15-acre site was previously farmland and will soon be transformed into a mix of three- and four-bedroom homes.

Although the plans faced objections, the Warrington Borough Council granted planning consent for the development. A total of 149 representations were received, mostly in objection, citing concerns about excessive traffic and unattractive housing designs. Despite these objections, the project, known as St Oswalds Place, has been approved to proceed.

Bellway promises that the houses will be of high quality and appeal to families. The development will offer a variety of semi-detached and detached houses with garages and off-road parking. The location is said to have a lovely open aspect while being well-connected to local transport links.

Sales director Garce Yarlett expressed excitement about the project, citing Winwick as a popular place for families to live. The construction is set to start soon, with two show homes expected to open in June 2025. The first properties will be released for sale in November of the same year.

In addition to the new housing development, Bellway has committed over £2 million in Section 106 contributions. These contributions will support education, healthcare, highways, and sports facilities in the area. Bellway collaborated with APD Architects and Gateley Solicitors on the project.
