In April of this year, the Warrington Guardian launched the Best of 2024 competition to discover the top businesses, shops, and restaurants in the area as chosen by locals. Readers were invited to nominate their favorite spots in 23 different categories, from cafes to gyms to independent shops. After compiling a shortlist of the most popular places, the overall winners for each category were determined by the readers’ votes.

Among the winners was Kate Lucy Hair Studio, owned by Kate Dixon, who started her career in hairdressing at just 15 years old. The studio, located on Gainsborough Road, was the first winner in the competition. Another standout was Tomlins Bakehouse, known for its delicious pies and pastries that have been satisfying customers for over 120 years.

Maisie Beck, a rising star in the beauty industry, took home the award for Best for Nails with her business, By Maisie Beck. The Blue Bell was recognized for serving the best roast dinner in town, while Dead Eyes claimed the title of Best for Cocktails for the second year in a row.

Other winners included CJ’s Coffee House for Best Breakfast, Plaice Station for Best Fish and Chips, and The Ferry Tavern for Best Beer Garden. Tommy O’Connor was named Best for Fitness for his work with Parkinson’s survivors, and Sam Small Ink was recognized as the top tattooist in Warrington.

Manic Minors Toystore was crowned Best Independent Shop or Business, while White Lace Bakery took home the award for Best for Dessert. Velocity Dance was named Best for Kids, and Victoria Park Vets won Best for Pets for the second consecutive year.

LUXE Salon & Training was recognized as the Best for Beauty, and San Lorenzo was named Best for Pizza. Room Forty was awarded Best for Afternoon Tea, and Café at the End of the Universe claimed the title of Best Café or Coffee Shop.

Ryfields Gym was named Best Gym for the third year in a row, and The Black Gold took home the award for Best for Curry. Rhode Island Coffee was recognized as the Best Café or Coffee Shop, and The Blue Bell was named the Best Pub in town.

Finally, Eighteen The Cross was awarded the prestigious title of Warrington’s Best Restaurant, known for its great tasting food made from quality ingredients sourced locally. These 23 winners represent the best that Warrington has to offer in a variety of categories, as chosen by the local community.
